The Racanelli Family is extremely proud and lucky to have such smart, hardworking, and committed women working with us,” said Martin J. Racanelli, Principal Owner of Racanelli Construction Co. Inc.
The first full week of March is dedicated to highlighting women’s impact in the construction industry. Today also happens to be International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. We want to take a moment to recognize all the fantastic women at Racanelli Construction Co. Inc.
Did you know that the number of women entering construction has increased by over sixty percent since 2012? Women have also taken on more prominent roles in construction management in recent years. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women make up nearly eleven percent of construction workers in the United States. Women In Construction Week was introduced in 1960 by the National Association of Women In Construction (NAWIC). NAWIC was founded in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1953 by sixteen women working in the construction industry to support the small number of women working in construction at the time. Today, NAWIC has 115 chapters nationwide and offers its members education, support, and networking to help advance their careers in construction.
Happy Women in Construction Week and International Women’s Day!
