Racanelli Construction Company, Inc. (Melville, NY, www.racanelliconstruction.com), a leading construction management, general contractor and design/build resource for commercial, industrial, retail, medical, pre-engineered and multi-unit residential projects, recently completed a 31,800 square foot hangar and office facility project for Hawthorne Global Aviation Services. The prefabricated metal building is located at Long Island MacArthur Airport where Hawthorne operates one of its six Fixed Base Operations (FBO) in the nation, and serves as a FAA Part 145 Repair Station, as well as provides aircraft charter and management through its ExcelAire, its sister company. Racanelli served as the General Contractor on the project working for BDG Construction Corp. (Syosset, NY). Representing the owner was Gardiner & Theobald, Inc.
In addition to the United Structures of America (USA) pre-engineered metal building, the new Hawthorne facility encompassed 24-gauge Guardian Lok Roof Panels, 26-gauge Purlin Bearing (PBR) steel wall panels and interior PBR liner panels. The project involved demolition, drainage and site utilities work, along with foundation footings, the installation of hangar doors, an interior fit-out and landscaping.
The project took approximately 13 months to complete.
