Queens, NY — Racanelli Construction Inc. is proud to announce the successful completion of Challenge Preparatory Charter School, a new three-story educational facility located in Queens, New York. This ground-up project delivers a state-of-the-art learning environment designed to support academic, athletic, and creative programming.
The building was constructed using a structural steel frame with metal decking and poured concrete floors, providing long-term durability and structural integrity. The foundation system consists of wood piles with poured pile caps, slab-on-grade construction, and poured elevated concrete slabs. Structural metal framing was installed along the entire perimeter of the building to support the exterior enclosure system.
The exterior façade features a rainscreen, finished with multi-color siding and Tamlyn trim reveals, resulting in a modern, high-performance building envelope that enhances both aesthetics and weather resistance.
Interior construction included a full build-out of classrooms, administrative offices, reception areas, and restrooms, as well as specialized spaces such as a gymnasium, dance studio, cafeteria, commercial kitchen, media center, and music room. The project utilized a wide range of materials, including steel, concrete, wood framing, sheetrock, cast iron piping, ductile iron pipe (DIP), reinforced concrete pipe (RCP), and vinyl flooring, ensuring durability in a high-traffic educational setting.
